Apples for the Art Barn

The Art Barn is old and crumbling, so the Sedona Arts Center had a tasty idea to raise money.  Members were asked to create with an apple theme on a 6" x 6" canvas which was provided by the Art Center.  The objects d'arte are being sold for $100 each, available in the upstairs gallery of the Sedona Arts Center.  Here are my little gems:

The first is a stoneware apple stitched to my acrylic painted canvas. (This was the hardest part; getting the needle under the canvas and into the apple.)  The leaves were also made of clay with bright orange threads hanging down to add more color.  The wires coming out the top are rather "avant garde" don't you think?  The 1 1/2" gallery sides are not visible, but they are painted bright yellow, with a few Sedona red rocks on the left side.

The javelina (not a pig!) was inspired by my javelina ornaments, also available at the Art Center. People here in Arizona have a love/hate relationship with javalinas. Like, they ate all our tulips last Spring!!
